Percent Salt Rejection
The prime measure of a reverse osmosis health is the percent the membrane rejets dissolved mineral in the ne. This is known as the percent salt rejection. Healthy membranes generally remove 97%-99% if the dissolved minerals from the feed water
The formula for this calculation is
Percent Salt Rejection = (Conductivity feed - Conductivity permeate) X 100 Feed Conductivity
Example: System has a feed conductivity of 100 micromhos and a permeate conductivity of 10 micromhos. - % Salt Rejection = (100 umho's - 10 umho's) X 100 100 umho's - % Salt Rejection = 90 X 100 = 0.90 100 - % Salt Rejection = 0.90 X 100 = 90%
